How to Develop a Strategic Plan in 4th Quarter 2011 That Will Generate Massive Growth and Increased Revenue in 2012

strategicalliance Strategic Planning In today’s changing marketplace it is imperative for every business, company, organization and entity to have a Strategic Plan in place. It makes good business sense to have a competitive- as well as a leading-edge advantage at all times.

A well-defined Strategic Plan that is well executed (last quarter of the previous year) will give a business, company, organization or entity the leverage it needs to remain a front runner in marketplace positioning, revenue generation and long-term business growth.

To develop a Strategic Plan for business growth requires the leader to deepen his/her understanding of the way the business works and its position relative to other businesses in its targeted markets.

As a starting point, the leader will need to ask the following three questions:

  1. Where is your business now? This involves understanding as much about your business as possible, including how it operates internally, what drives profitability and how it compares with competitors. Be realistic, detached and critical in the process.
  1. Where do you want to take it? Here you need to set out your top-level objectives. Be specific about your vision, mission, objectives, values, techniques and goals. Where do you see your business in one to three years? What do you want to be the focus of your business and your platform for gaining or retaining the competitive advantage over your rivals in the marketplace?
  1. What do you need to do to get there? What changes will you need to make in order to deliver on your strategic objectives? What is the best way of implementing those changes? What changes to the structure and financing of your business will be required and what goals and deadlines will you need to set for yourself and others in the business, company, organization or entity?
